How I Can Support Your Child’s Learning Journey
Guiding Parents, Supporting Students ??
Supporting families with personalized guidance to navigate the special educational process and empower them to advocate for their child’s needs, while providing students with targeted instruction for success in learning.
Learning Disabilities Consultant
As a Dyslexia Consultant, I partner with parents to understand their concerns and goals for their child’s education. Through in-depth conversations and a careful review of key documents such as the IEP, evaluations, report cards, and work samples I create a clear, personalized action plan. This plan includes specific academic, behavioral, and attentional strategies and interventions tailored to the child’s strengths and weaknesses. After reviewing the child’s IEP or draft IEP I offer detailed recommendations for adjustments to this document that will better address their individual needs. This plan helps parents confidently advocate for the services and support their child needs, working toward a positive and successful school experience.
After parents have reviewed the report, we will schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss the recommendations, address any questions, and ensure they feel confident collaborating with their child’s school.
Ways I Support Parents Through the School Year:
I provide consulting services for parents of students with learning difficulties at key points during the school year to help them feel informed, empowered, and confident in their child’s educational journey.
Beginning of the School Year
We will lay the groundwork for a strong and successful start by reviewing your child’s IEP, preparing to communicate with school staff, and identifying any early concerns or adjustments that may be needed.
If your child is not yet classified, we’ll discuss the challenges they’re experiencing, their specific needs, and the types of support that could help them thrive in the classroom.
Mid-Year Check-In
At this point in the school year we will ask questions: Are the current supports effective? Is your child making progress towards their IEP goals? Together we will discuss whether services are meeting your child’s needs and explore any necessary changes to support their growth.
End of the School Year
We will prepare for the annual IEP meeting by reviewing the year’s progress, setting goals for the upcoming school year, and helping to develop an appropriate draft IEP.

How I Support Parents Throughout the School Year
As a consultant for parents of students with dyslexia, I provide guidance and support at key points in the school year. My goal is to help parents feel informed, empowered, and confident as you navigate your child’s educational journey.
Start of the School Year: Laying the Foundation
We begin the year by setting your child up for success. This includes reviewing their current IEP (if they have one), identifying early concerns, and planning for effective communication with teachers and school staff.
If your child is not classified, we’ll discuss your observations, concerns, and the supports you believe are essential for your child’s learning.
Mid-Year Check-In: Monitoring Progress
Midway through the school year, we pause to ask:
Are the current supports working?
Is your child making progress toward their IEP goals?
Are any changes needed?
We’ll reflect on what’s working and what may need adjustment to ensure your child continues to grow.
End of the School Year: Preparing for the New School Year
As the year ends, we’ll focus on preparing for your child’s annual IEP meeting. Together, we’ll review their progress, set goals for the upcoming year, and identify key priorites to help shape a strong draft IEP that supports your child’s success.
Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner Specialized reading and spelling intervention for students with dyslexia and language-based learning difficulties.
As a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, I work with students diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, offering specialized instruction to improve their reading and spelling skills.
The Wilson Reading System is a research-based, structured language program specifically designed for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. This program utilizes a multisensory approach to teach reading and spelling skills focusing on providing explicit instruction in a cumultative and systematic manner.
Key components of theWilson Reading Program:
Word Identification Accuracy and Spelling
Vocabulary
Automaticity and Fluency
Listening comprehension with age-appropriate narrative and informational texts
Comprehension
Assessment- We begin with a reading and spelling assessment, identifying a student’s strengths and weaknesses to determine their specific needs.
Lesson Plans - I follow a diagnostic approach in which lessons are based on each student’s specific learning needs. My teaching is diagnostically based on need and mastery of concepts taught. Each lesson focuses on the student’s strengths and challenges and is meaningful, targeted and effective.
Monitoring Student Progress- Progress monitoring is built into every lesson. During each lesson I assess how the student’s skills and understanding of concepts are progressing. This progress monitoring allows me to diagnostically plan for the following lessons and to pace appropriately. We progress to the next substep when the student has achieved mastery.
Testimonials
“We met Mrs. Rubin 2 years ago when our son was in 2nd grade. He was diagnosed with dyslexia and his reading regressed over the summer break. He had difficulties reading even 3 letter words, and had difficulties distinguishing multiple letters. He was getting very discouraged about reading and started to resist even the simplest attempts to help him. Working with Mrs Rosenberg has been a transformative experience for us. Her patient and personalized approach to teaching reading and now writing has helped him gain confidence and improve his skills significantly. Her lessons are well-structured, and she is able keep him engaged throughout the lesson (he also has ADHD). The progress we've seen in our son’s reading and writing is truly remarkable, and while at one time we were worried that he would never be able to read fluently, he is now approaching grade level. He is even picking up books to read on his own which was hard to even imagine a year ago. Mrs. Rosenberg has also been an invaluable resource to us and has been guiding us in adjusting his IEP. She is in close contact with his school teachers to try to complement his school program. We wholeheartedly recommend Mrs. Rosenberg to any parent seeking support for their child's education.”
Ty’s parents
K. is doing so well and is finally on grade level! His special education teacher believes he may be declassified as he is so independent and is advocating for himself. This is an absolute testament to Janice Rubin’s early work by building such a strong foundation for K.
CRM
We are incredibly grateful for Janice, whose expertise in the Wilson method has made a significant impact on our son’s reading skills. What sets her apart is her ability to personalize each lesson, tailoring it to his unique interests and strengths, which keeps him engaged and motivated. Beyond her exceptional tutoring, she is kind, patient, and truly caring. She goes above and beyond as an advocate, consistently collaborating with his teachers and outside support to ensure a holistic approach to his growth.
